At Hawke’s Bay Orthodontics we use a team approach to provide quality care. Hawke’s Bay Orthodontics is a friendly, family orientated practice where we treat every patient as we would treat one of our own family members. Our practice has a relaxed atmosphere, where regardless of your age you will feel comfortable and at ease.

Dr Kirsty Skidmore - Orthodontist

BDS, MDS (Ortho), MOrth RCSEd, FRACDS

Kirsty completed her BDS at Otago University. She then worked as a dental house surgeon at Hastings Hospital and in private dental practices in Hawke’s Bay before doing her Masters Degree in Orthodontics at Otago. Kirsty is a registered specialist with the Dental Council of New Zealand, a member of the NZ Association of Orthodontists and also has a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.

After graduating from Orthodontics she worked as an Orthodontist at Christchurch Hospital and in a private Christchurch Orthodontic Practice. She then worked as an Orthodontic Specialist in the UK for 5 years prior to returning to Havelock North and opening her own private practice in 2009.

Kirsty has three children Evie, Sam and Millie. When she isn’t practicing orthodontics, she is a full time mum and keen runner who loves the Hawke’s Bay sunshine and life-style.

Kerrie - Practice Manager and qualified Orthodontic Auxiliary

Kerrie is responsible for the overall running of the practice and thoroughly enjoys working alongside staff, patients and their families. She has worked for many years as a dental assistant and over the last ten years as an orthodontic auxiliary. Kerrie is very knowledgeable and competent in all areas of orthodontics, manages the day-to-day running of HB Orthodontics and is very gentle and understanding with patients.

Tracy- Receptionist

When you first call or enter HB Orthodontics the lovely Tracy will greet you.

Tracy Manages HB Orthodontics reception, coordinates appointments, answers your questions and ensures your time with us is as easy and happy as possible.

You will also see Tracy in the surgery from time to time.

Eireann-Dental Assistant

Eireann received her certificate in Dental Assisting from New Zealand Dental Association in 2024

Eireann works alongside Kirsty at your appointments.

Eireann will answer questions, provide you with information on how to care for your teeth and braces, and will sometimes be at reception scheduling appointments.

Our experience has been a wonderful one with Kirsty and the team at Hawke's Bay Orthodontics. Emily our daughter has completed her braces treatment and has been thrilled with the outcome of her beautiful smile. No questions are ever unanswered and we have always had wonderful reassurance and support all the way through. We would most definitely always recommend Kirsty and her fabulous team as the BEST in Hawke's Bay!!
