We are now temporarily closed

Update as at 24th March 2020

To all our valued patients and their families,

The Ministry of Health and Dental Council of New Zealand have advised all dentists and dental specialists to temporarily cease practice in an attempt to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Due to this directive, our orthodontic practice is now temporarily closed. We will be in touch as soon as the situation changes.

  1. Advice to patients waiting for braces,
  2. Advice to patient needing retention check, new patient appointments and reviews.
  3. Advice to patients in treatment

Keep wearing them as instructed. The teeth will continue to move/straighten. If you have any concerns about your bite, please take a photograph with your back teeth biting together and email it to us. Alternatively, please stop wearing your elastics.

We are only permitted to see patients who have a significant emergency. Please note that broken brackets are unable to be and will not be replaced at this time.

If you are a patient of HB Orthodontics and have a major concern, please call our practice on (06) 877 1450 or email us at Office@hbortho.co.nz and someone will get back to you within 48 hours.

If you have run out of elastics or wax don’t worry! Leave us a message and we will get back to you.

General Reminders:

  • Almost all damage is done while eating so please be careful about the types of food you eat and the way in which you eat them.
  • Avoid sticky or hard sweets – these get stuck around the braces, are hard to clean off and they are full of sugar that will lead to marking of the teeth and decay.
  • Keep sweet and carbonated (fizzy) drinks to a minimum because of their very high sugar content. E.g. Coca-cola, Red Bull, V etc.
  • Cut hard food into small pieces (i.e. carrots and apples).
  • Avoid pork crackling, hard toast, lollies, candy canes, nuts or hard biscuits.

Please see our Facebook page for updates. We will update our patients as further information comes to hand and will continue to provide care for our patients as soon as we are able to.

Sending all our valued patients’ warm thoughts during this time.

The team at HB Orthodontics.
